  • Fibreoptic Endoscopy / Examination under anaesthesia with biopsy
  • CT/MRI / PET CTscan
  • HPV testing

Treatment for Oropharyngeal cancers:

  • Surgery: Early cancers can be treated by LASER or Robotic Surgery.
  • Advantages: excellent cure rates, maximal voice preservation, reasonable functional outcome & minimal side effects
  • Radiation therapy: first line of treatment for early oropharyngeal cancers. IMRT is the preferred modality for cancers of the oropharynx
  • Chemotherapy: used along with radiation in advanced oropharyngeal cancers
